Our third camp ended last week, with nearly 70 children, young people and adults with visual impairment, mostly unaccompanied. The organisers wanted this year’s camp to be both a thematic and experiential camp, and the feedback from the participants showed that they succeeded. We thank the organisers for their excellent work: Tünde Miklós, a member of our Board of Trustees, Gizella Ferencz, a physiotherapist, and Arnold Butu, our colleague, for the organisation. Thank you for your presence and your work to raise the professional level of the camp: Orsolya Németh, chief staff member of the National Association of the Hungarian Blind and Visually Impaired, Anett Puskás and Imola Moni, also from MVGYOSZ, István Tábor, his lovely partner Ildikó Csala, and the most famous guide dog of Szeklerland, Pakli, Klaudia Butu, kindergarten teacher, and many more participants. Thank you to all the parents and chaperones who helped the organizers so much to make the program run smoothly.
The age-graded, small-group, thematic vocational sessions usually took place in the mornings, in a playful way, learning or practising new and emerging competences from the age of 4 to 65. A special feature of the camp was that we had the opportunity to get to know each other. In the afternoons we had a great experience, and the evenings were a time of music, bonfires and great conversations.
For this year’s camp, the team of visually impaired children and young people prepared a show lasting almost an hour, which they performed on the penultimate day with great success. From the beginning of the camp, they worked at a very fast pace, with the poets and musicians working separately. Most of the performers were from last year’s camp, but there were also newcomers – such as the internationally award-winning poet, Ákos Endes-Ábrahám, the inimitable and courageous Botond Sípos, the charming and hard-working Emőke Blága – who took part in the preparation and performance with great seriousness and dedication. Their diligence and work were exemplary, and we thank them by name: Ákos Endes-Ábrahám , Nagy Csengelle, Botond Sípos, Emőke Blága, Hunor Molnár, Tekla Sándor, Botond Frigur, Mercédesz Csutak, Tamás Kovács, Szabolcs Vajda, István Csongor Furus, Dávid Dohi.
The surprise guest of the show was Hungarian blind pianist Helle Maximilián, who joined in and took an active part in the show. Thanks to him!
Thank you to the Hungarian Scout Association of Romania for visiting us, introducing themselves, sharing with us a lot of interesting and enlightening information about the international and national scout movements. Thank you for the opportunity to play, laugh and sing together. Thank you, President Lóránt Bálint Lajos!
